Aah...Breakfast

As quoted by Adelle Davis, ‘Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper’, follow this routine and it can certainly work wonders for you. The breakfast is the most important meal of the day and this is what gives you the added energy and zing when it comes to carrying out all your work and home duties during the day.

Breakfast times with family in the olden days were prolonged and full of good food and fresh fruit juices. Pick up any Enid Blyton book and get to know how the Famous Five eagerly finished all their breakfast dishes in no time at all! Today, with the prolonged hours at work, one hardly gets time for any elaborate breakfast ideas. So, what does one do when one needs to have a healthy breakfast with very little time in the early morning hours? Simple! All you need to do is some preparation and planning. Here are some easy breakfast recipes for busy working people.

Easy Breakfast Recipes:

Grapefruit Drink:
This is a great way to enjoy a refreshing and natural fruity drink in the morning. Bound to work well with any dish or can act as a filling drink on its own. All you need to do is pick the fruits in advance on your way home. Wake up in the morning and follow the steps mentioned below:

Ingredients:
• Juice of grapefruits-2
• Juice of oranges
• Honey (2 tsp)
• Sections from a grapefruit (1)
• Fresh/frozen strawberries (1 cup)
• Sliced strawberries (1/2 cup)
Preparation:
You need to pour the grapefruit juice and the orange juice along with the honey and the strawberries in the blender. Blend this combination until it smoothens. Once done, strain this into 2 chilled glasses. If you love to have your juice chilled, then you can even chill the fruits in advance or mix some ice cubes in the blender. Add some protein powder if required. Use the sections of grapefruit and strawberries as toppings. Your yummy drink is ready to be served!

Breakfast Wrap:
This is a very lip smacking and yummy breakfast recipe. You can make it plain or dress it up with other ingredients as per your time limit.

Ingredients:
• Whole egg (1)
• Egg whites (2)
• Reduced fat shredded cheese (1 tbsp)
• Low fat flour tortilla (1)
Preparation:
Firstly, you need to whisk the egg and the egg whites together. Use a small bowl for the process. Take a small nonstick skillet and cook the mixture until you get the desired consistency. You need to spoon the egg along the center of the tortilla wrap for at least 10-15 seconds in the microwave. Once done, simply sprinkle come cheese on top of the egg. Roll this up and enjoy your egg wrap with some salsa.

French Toast:
Add some variation to the normal French toast. Here are the steps.
Ingredients:
• Sliced whole grain bread (8)
• Nonfat milk (3/4 cup)
• Vanilla extract (2 tsp)
• Egg substitute -equivalent to 2 eggs (1/2 cup)
• Cinnamon (1/2 tsp)
Preparation:
Use a wide bowl to combine the egg substitute with vanilla, milk and cinnamon. Then, dip the bread into this egg mixture and soak both the sides. Now, heat a non-stick skillet on medium high heat. Next, you need to place the bread slices in the skillet and cook both sides until they are golden brown. You can add some fresh fruit or maple syrup as topping for the bread slices.

Yogurt with fruit:
Ingredients:
• Apple-chopped (1)
• Raisins (½ cup)
• Seedless grapes (1 cup)
• Banana-sliced (2)
• Berries (1 cup)
• Plain or vanilla low fat yogurt (2 cups)
Preparation:
All you need to do is mix all the fruits together and top it with yogurt. An easy way breakfast recipe for all, this is healthy as well.
